What is Wellport?

Wellport is an electronic health information network that allows participating physicians and other healthcare providers more timely & reliable access to your health records.

Wellport is used by many practices in the Greater Newburyport area and by the physicians and staff at the Anna Jaques Hospital. It is a new, safer and more efficient way for your clinicians and the Anna Jaques Hospital to exchange important health information when necessary to take better care of patients.

Wellport is one of the nation’s first community-based and community-wide electronic health information networks. This means that independently practicing physicians of Greater Newburyport who participate in the network and physicians at the Anna Jaques Hospital are now going to be linked together to create a more integrated healthcare community.

Currently, health information is shared among clinicians by telephone, fax, paper copies, email and by secure connections to hospitals’ computers. While some information may continue to be shared in this way, now information will also be shared electronically through

Over the next several months, patients will be able to access their own personal health record at home. MyWellport, Wellport’s personal health record, will allow patients access to their important medical information from their personal computer and will also permit secure electronic communication between physicians and their patients.
